Hobbies

From all of the hobbies I've ever had, astronomy is the one that has been staying with me the longest. I don't remember when I would have started it, but when I was 7 years old, I already gave lectures about astronomy in my primary school. When I was 15 I joined my home town's astronomy club. Even know, after about one quarter of a century of astronomy behind me, I still find the starry night sky as fascinating as ever. Every autumn I get excited, when the stars return to the darkening sky after the summer. No temperature is too cold to go out to see the stars. (In my youth, I often hanged around in our balcony in -20C or more with my binoculars.) Nowadays it's more like a lifestyle than a hobby, really. I get very anxious if I can't see the sky.

Handicrafts is the other main hobby of mine. It includes pretty much everything from cross-stitching to sewing, from drawing to painting. I don't watch TV, so I have lots of time to do crafting, and often the end result can be rather stunning (even for me). I guess you could count fanart as a hobby, too, I've been doing it a lot in the near past...

Of course I also have a bit more traditional hobbies, like reading. I also cook and bake a lot, mostly because my diet for health reasons is so strict I can't buy any ready-made food from the shop.
